Danish violinist JOSEFINE DALSGAARD studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen with Serguei Azizian, in Cologne with Michaela Martin and Chicago with Shmuel Ashkenasi. Laureate of several international competitions including 1st prize in the Jakob Gades Violin Competition, she is a founder member and violin solo of the award-winning Nightingale String Quartet.
The quartet was awarded the Danish Radio P2 talent prize 2010, a P2 Prize (Danish Radio) for “Danish CD of 2012” in 2013 and was a finalist for a BBC Music Magazine award for “Best chamber CD of 2012”. In April 2010 the Nightingale String Quartet was awarded 2nd prize at the international chamber music competition “Charles Hennen Concours” in Holland. They have since undertaken concert tours in China, South Africa, the Faroe Isles, Czech Republic and Holland, and played alongside members of the Alban Berg Quartet, the Vermeer Quartet, Quatour Danel and the Danish String Quartet.
In March 2012 the Nightingale String Quartet released the first of three CD with Rued Langgaards complete string quartets with the record company DACAPO.
