Guro Asheim

Norwegian violinist Guro Asheim was born in Norway in 1986. She started the violin aged 6, and after studies with Ulf Wallin at the Royal College of Music, Stockholm, attended the specialist chamber music class held at the Edsberg Castle in Sweden. She won the 1st prize for violin and chamber music at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, along with several Scandinavian prizes/scholarships.

As a soloist she has appeared with orchestras such as the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, and is also highly in demand as a chamber musician ; she has played at festivals such as the Bornholm Music Festival, Lyckå Chamber Music Festival and Hindsgavl Festival. Guro has played in major concert halls across Scandinavia and across the world : Wigmore Hall, Royal Albert Hall, London and the Carnegie Hall, New York.

Since 2010 she has been a member of the Soloists Scheme at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, whilst also taking lessons at the Manhattan School of Music in New York. She has attended masterclasses with Zakhar Bron, Midori, Milan Vitek, Gerhard Schulz and Sylvia Rosenberg.

Guro is also invited regularly as a violinist in numerous Scandinavian Orchestras such as the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, Royal Danish Orchestra, Risør Festival Strings etc.
